Lisa Graas beat me to my own story. The hostess of  WhyMommyIsARepublican.com burst onto the blogging scene with the news that I was holding close to my chest,  for no particular reason other than I was too lazy to get off my Sealy posturpedic bed and remain upright in front of my computer screen long enough to write the story.

Way to go, Miss Lisa.

Yes, the rumors are true. I am returning to the radio. Kinda. I'll be doing a "guest host" shot at the end of the week, through Tuesday at my former place of employment - KSFO radio in San Francisco.

Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan, KSFO Radio

This is the best of all worlds, I get to work a little bit, and go back to my recliner a lot, and still collect my unemployment check. In between, I have been searching databases for warm climates , low taxes, and Republican strongholds - which is definitely not California, where I currently reside.

I confess, I have gotten a bit lazy while watching the country implode under Barry O's leadership. No more 80 hour weeks for me. Nope, I am not the economic stimulus that the Democrats are hoping for. I am leaving that job for Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums, the left-wing Democrat who has all the answers to the economy. And crime.

If I can just find him.

Anyway, here are Lisa's nice words on my imminent return to the radio world.

Melanie Morgan will be on KSFO-AM this Friday, Monday and Tuesday and I encourage you all to tune in. I'm very excited about this because I recently "met" Melanie online and am interested in reading her book |American Mourning: The Intimate Story of Two Families Joined by War, Torn by Beliefs| which I just got in the mail today!

[My kids think I'm famous now because I have a signed copy of Melanie's book. :-) My mom who is a petite, respectable and demure 73-yr-old called it first, though, so I will have to wait my turn.]

I'm not sure what topics Melanie will be discussing (maybe the economy?) but I really enjoy her take on things, especially her support for our troops. I recommend that you all tune in
via podcast here.

Visit Melanie's site here!

Remember to mark your calendar! Melanie Morgan on KSFO-AM -- Friday, Monday and Tuesday -- 5am-9am (PDT) If you can't find it at the Morning Show podcast page linked above, you can
check the Archives afterward.

Best wishes to Melanie!

Book Recommendation:
|American Mourning: The Intimate Story of Two Families Joined by War, Torn by Beliefs|

Book Description:
|American Mourning| is the story of two American families whose sons died in the war on terror. Casey Sheehan and Justin Johnson had been best friends since they first met at Fort Hood in Texas; they were killed within five days of each other in separate ambushes in Sadr City, Iraq, during Holy Week of 2004.

As the Sheehan and Johnson families have mourned their unimaginable loss, they have had little else in common and have taken entirely different paths as they mourned. Justin's father, Joe Johnson, followed his son to Baghdad, slogging through the open sewers of Iraqi slums to see where Justin had died and to avenge his death.

Cindy Sheehan wanted another kind of revenge. Blaming President Bush for Casey's death, she called the Muslim radicals who killer her son "freedom fighters" and brought an entourage of antiwar activists and a coalition of the willing press to the president's ranch outside Crawford, Texas. Demanding that the president meet with her in the sweltering Texas summer, she became a media phenomenon and America's best-known antiwar activist since Jane Fonda.

The Sheehans and the Johnsons represent the extremes of grief-stricken parents in war, both families reflecting the gap in how Americans view the war on terror. The Johnson family has bonded closer. Justin's parents have grown nearer; their faith has been strengthened; and their support for the war is stronger than ever. Meanwhile, the Sheehan family has fractured, and Casey's parents have divorced. Cindy says she is no longer a Christian, and her opposition to the war is deeper an dmore bitter than ever.

The bodies of Casey Sheehan and Justin Johnson lie in their hometown graves. Justin's final resting place is decorated with handmade flags and miniature Uncle Sams. Casey's had no marker for two years to tell the world that he lived, fought, and died a hero.

Both Joe and Cindy are shooting at ghosts. Cindy still is. This is their story. The story of |American Mourning| .

Californians are like no other ...we are weird cats, that's for sure. Here's an item from the Chuck DeVore  (R) campaign to beat Senator Barbara Boxer. I hope that George Will is right about this one, but Carly Fiorina is looking pretty strong (right now)

George Will: Chuck DeVore will be the Republican Nominee

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- DeVore for California today reacted to the comment of distinguished political eminence George Will, on ABC's "This Week," that Chuck DeVore will be the Republican nominee to face Barbara Boxer.

Chuck DeVore said, "It's gratifying and humbling that a distinguished observer of American politics like George Will would predict the success of our campaign. Naturally I agree! But let me be clear: this is a victory we must fight hard for and earn in full. With the swelling support of the conservative grassroots across California and America, we will."

Leisa Brug Kline, DeVore for California campaign manager, said, "George Will is seeing what many sharp-eyed observers of California and national politics are seeing. The Republican Senate primary in this state is resolving into a contest between a longtime liberal, a moneyed dilettante, and a fighting conservative. In 2010, don't bet against the conservative -- Chuck DeVore."

At least there's some good news, from time-to-time.

The liberals have proven - once again -  they can't win the Air Wars on radio.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Air America Radio, a progressive radio network that once aired commentary from Al Franken and Rachel Maddow, said Thursday it is shutting down immediately.

The company founded in April 2004 said it ceased airing new programs Thursday afternoon and will soon file to be liquidated under Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It began broadcasting reruns of programs and would end those as well Monday night.

Air America said 10 consecutive quarters of declining ad revenue and the difficulty of making money on the Internet contributed to its financial woes.

"The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business. This past year has seen a `perfect storm' in the media industry generally," the company said in a statement on its Web site.

The network had some 100 radio outlets nationwide.

Franken, a Democrat, hosted his own show from 2004 to 2007 before going on to become a U.S. senator from Minnesota last year after a close election. Maddow went on to host her own TV show on MSNBC.

I wonder why this is happening to CNN?  It couldn’t be because they have become so ridiculously biased.  I can see why they are stumped on what to do next.  Maybe adding someone like Harry Belafonte would help or trying to get Keith Olbermann.  Hmmm  Wish I could come up with a good idea for them.

(From Sal, who desperately wishes no harm to CNN - NOT!)

Fox News Has Best January Ever

Fox News had all 13 of the top cable news shows in total viewers for the fifth month in a row in January, and had the best January in its history.

Fox was up 22 percent in total viewers in January compared to January 2009, and up an extraordinary 51 percent in the key 25-to-54 demographic.

CNN was down 34 percent in total viewers in January compared to the previous year, and MSNBC was down 26 percent.

Fox dominated its rivals in covering the major political event of the month, Republican Scott Brown’s victory in the Massachusetts special election for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat, mediaite.com reported.

Fox was also helped by Sarah Palin, who joined the network as an analyst and drew 3.95 million viewers for her first appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Jan. 12.

For the month, Fox averaged 2.94 million prime-time viewers, compared to 946,000 for CNN and 838,000 for MSNBC, according to Nielsen.

CNN topped MSNBC in weekday prime-time viewers during January for the first time in six months, helped by its comprehensive coverage of earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

And MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann slipped to third in his time slot behind Bill O’Reilly on Fox and HLN’s Nancy Grace.
